once a month…

That seems to be all I can muster on this blog! I have a very few craft related updates… knitting is very hard to do these days, although I have cast on for my very own Orangina. In bright pink :) No photos, it’s a wee bit. I also want to give a blanket comment: Sorry i haven’t been commenting all of your wonderful posts… I am thinking of witty and complimentary comments each time I read, but writing them is a different story. Please know that I am commenting you all in my head.

Knitting is not a new mommy hobby. I am trying very hard to envision it as any mommy’s hobby! It’s obviously possible since so many of you make such gorgeous things in what seems to be a timely manner. Although I am very impressed with Maia’s sleeping abilities once she is asleep, getting there is a bit of an issue. We get about 9-10 hours straight once she’s down, but starting around 8:30 we do this horrible dance of sleep for ten minutes, cry, awake for 10 minutes, and so on and so forth. About 2 hours of this. Sometimes the stretches are longer, sometimes they are shorter. I am on the edge of my seat while she’s sleeping and SO TIRED that I don’t even want to pick up the knitting. I’ve also started a consulting gig; I often wind up responding to emails or editing a paragraph or so before running back upstairs. Last night I may have found the magic button. I shouldn’t have even said anything… now it won’t work two nights in a row! shhhhh…

My midwife, the owner of Brooklyn General, is a knitter and sewer. She happened to mention that sewing is quicker than knitting. Between that comment, the awesome fabrics I’ve been seeing, the sewing opportunities that exist in my own house (ugly stools, ripped couch, cute baby), and some other real life & blog friends who’ve taken the leap, I decided that for my 30th birthday I would like a sewing machine. And le’ts make it the fancy kind that you hook up to the computer and can embroider with while we’re at it. WOOHOO! So, I don’t have it yet, but here is what is arriving soon:

Singer Futura CE-200

Hopefully I will have the time to use it… this little lady keeps me pretty busy!

We get our sillies out…

We have also taken time to relax…

I miss you all… especially my Spiders!

we miss you too! just give it some time and she’ll sleep like a champ and you’ll have more time to yourself. then there’ll come the point when she’s old enough to entertain herself or watch some baby einstein and you’ll have even more time!

can’t wait to see the new sewing machine and what you make from it :)

Love the pictures! Maia cracks me up…
Your new sewing machine is so fancy, I’m a little afraid of it. Once you’ve figured out the basics of sewing, you have to divulge your secrets!

We miss you too!!! Maia looks adorable. I finally got my pictures developed from the renegade fair, and there’s one of you giving the camera a Vogue Attack- I must give you a copy.

Sewing is not knitting, but it’s still crafty and that’s all that matters, right?

I can’t wait to see the wonders that come out of that sewing machine! It looks like it can do everything, slice and dice and non-stick too. I’m sure MJ will eventually decide to let you knit or sew or something…

ACK! She is so amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love the “sillies” pics – she is too much. :)

I’m a gazillion years behind on reading blogs/taking care of my own – and I don’t even have a baby! So, don’t be too tough on yerself there, little mama! Hope to see you soon – we’ll be saving a spot for you at the yarn swap… my fingers are crossed that you’ll be able to make it! (Christine’s going to try to come down from RI with Pam! Wooo!)

PS – Way to go on the sewing machine! Now we have yet another hobby in common…. :)
