spread the love… spread it thick

Alright folks… my sewing machine has arrived and I’ve abandoned Orangina for the Phildar tank (see Veronique & Lisa for completed pattern). I’m going to be signing up for sewing lessons, but I already have a few projects in mind. My house needs some dressing up!

Couch… I am sure this is an all too familiar scene to lots of people.

couch

Brand new couch+insane cat=instant ratty couch. There are holes like this along the entire length of the couch and I’d like to make something that will HIDE them.

Ugly as sin stools.

ugly stools

This picture doesn’t even come close to how nasty these are. Mr. Sassy traded two old bikes for three of these and an awesome Weber bbq a couple of years ago. Definitely need some covers on these bad boys.

There’s other stuff too… but let’s not get ahead of ourselves, right? Wait, doesn’t everyone keep their baby bottles on the kitchen counter right next to the vodka?

I am wondering how many readers I have lost since MJ was born. Am I too heavy on the mom content? I hope I’m holding some interest from those who aren’t regular commentors. And you regs, please keep it up! I love all of your supportive words, not to mention the compliments.

A couple of weeks back I commented on Mary’s blog in response to this meme. It reminds me of a class exercise my Spanish teacher made us do in high school. Everyone brought in a jar with their name on it. Every day you had to write something nice about a classmate and drop it in their jar. At the end, each person’s jar was filled with really nice, substantive compliments on everything from fashion to character. Mrs. Phin told us we would probably save them forever and so far, that’s been true for me! My high school was so small that you could basically guess who wrote what (ahem, if you had used a computer to type your comments up, that would have pegged you too… only a couple of people would have done that!). It was really fabulous to hear about what others really thought of you sans hs bullshit. This is basically the blog equivalent… only public.

SOoooooo,

If you comment…
1. I’ll respond with something random I like about you.
2. I’ll tell you what song/movie/recipe reminds me of you.
3. I’ll name something we should do together.
4. I’ll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).
5. I’ll tell you my first/clearest memory of you - that I remember.
6. I’ll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you.
7. I’ll ask you something that I’ve always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal so you can do the same for other people.

Spread the love, spread it thick.

wow, you really want to jump right in to sewing all the hard stuff :) maybe you should try a few skirt or something first. have you had your lesson yet? i’m dying to come over and give the singer a whirl.

your mom content is just fine with me. it’s nice that you wait to post and throw a little of everything into your entries. quality not quantity!

Nothing wrong with mommy stuff- it’s all about your life and what’s important to you. MJ is a very special person and you should talk about her as much as you like.

We definitely need to gather some money for spider tee’s. Good luck on your first projects.

That’s funny, I just promised myself that I would comment more on the many blogs that I read (rather than the usual suspects). It does help that I’m off work this week :p

Firstly, congrats on starting the phildar, I’ve been drooling over that top myself. Secondly, congratulations on the sewing machine, I’ll be excited to see what cool stuff you make with it.

Oh, I know what this new crafty hobby will entail: shopping!! Oh, and where are you taking your sewing class?
And, by the way, I love seeing pics of MJ. And since you mix it up with other sassy stuff, I always enjoy reading your posts.

I think you provide a nice mix of “mom” stuff and “other” stuff. Of course, I wish you had time to post more, but then again I wish I had time to post more too, so who am I to talk!!! I can’t wait to see what that sewing machine produces. And if I had baby bottles lying around, I’m sure they’d be by the vodka or possibly in the wine fridge.

I have no problem reading about MJ - she is a doll…and I’m proud to say I can make her laugh like crazy! I’ve been pretty lucky with my cats they don’t really attack the couches just my boxspring. So where are you taking the sewing class…I’m very interested!

Good luck with the sewing projects! And I just wanted to let you know that I’m here and still reading (despite my own little vacation from all blog activities)! And certainly keep up the mommy content, I love it.
