new yarn, new job, new entry
2006 @ 8:39 am
I finally have some content! Truth is, i have a lot, but no time to get it up here. I’ve started a couple of new projects with some fab new yarn. And, I’ve started a job.
First, the knitting:
A trip to School Products resulted in a large purchase… a HUGE cone of heavy worsted cashmere!
It’s a lovely chocolate brown. At first I thought it would become the long coveted Rouge Hoodie, but it just wasn’t quite right. I went through all of my pattern books and magazines and finally hit the jackpot with the Fall o6 Interweave Knits. I’ve a got a few inches of ribbing done on the Breton Jacket, shown below.
It’s a great sweater to wear to my new job at the Brooklyn General Store! I’ll be adding an inch to the ribbing since I like a longer cardigan.
Bet you’re wondering what that other yarn in the photo is–it’s some awesome sock yarn that Gleek picked up for me at Rhinebeck. I had requested something warm and earthy to make MJ some mittens. These two colors are perfect! I double stranded them for added thickness and it’s making a nice mottled peachytan color. The shown mitten is a teeny bit small. I was winging it while MJ was asleep so it was sort of expected. I’ll post the pattern when I get it right!
TTFN… see you at the store

cashmere. wow. I bought two small balls of cashmere for 25 dollars on e-bay…woulda cost about 50 in real life. Was that cashmere expensive?
I guess if I have to ask, I can’t afford it *lol*
That sweater is going to be beautiful in that color.
ah, great idea to double strand those two sock yarns! perfect.
and that breton jacket is gonna be super styling!
Congrats again on scoring that dream job.
And I think you made a wise choice on the Breton Jacket, it’s gonna look fabulous.
What a sweet little mitten! Love the cashmere, can’t wait to see it as a cardigan.
Congrats on your cool new job–and it’s in such a nice, friendly place, too.
And wow, all that cashmere! Lucky girl.
I have a similar cone hanging out under my bed - I’m still trying to find a worthy sweater pattern! I definitely like the one you chose.

*jealous* must be SO much fun. just don’t spend your earnings in the store! ^_^
