Vestee charades as sweater
2007 @ 12:13 pm
**update** yarn for Charades is Yarn Pirate Merino Tencel on sz 2 needles. Tuxedo Top is Louet Euroflax Linen Sport in Aqua on sz 3.
The Vestee is finally complete! Its been waiting for its contrast shawl collar to be attached for at least two months. I decided to do something about it last week when some of the Brooklyn General gals came over to knit. We had wine and some lovely cheeses… all the while i slowly attached the collar (mattress stitch in case you are out there wondering).

Pattern: Vestee by Marjorie Brigham
Yarn: 2 skeins Purple Rownspun dk, one skein of Green Rowanspun dk and one (maybe + a little) skein Kidsilk Haze in lavendarish color…
Needles: lots of circular size 7s.
Mods: I knit it in the round and did a three needle bind off in the pits. As posted here, there is another version of this pattern that has a little more yoke detail and some helpful schematics.
My sister thinks I’m out of my mind, but I am not sure this will fit MJ in the fall. Cross your fingers for me!
I’ve also completed one of Sandra’s Charade socks. Lots of fun so far!

Last night’s Stitch n Pitch at Shea Stadium was lots of fun! I don’t want to sell out my buddy, but neither of us even realized the game was over… we were too into our knitting! Oops.
I was working on my latest project, the Sleeveless Tuxedo Top from Summer Interweave.

PS-I am aware that some people think life at home with baby might be a bit of a bore. I assure you, this is not true 95% of the time. Just this morning, we had a dance party right in our living room! I ask you, non-parent, when was the last time you shook your booty at home, regardless of the hour?

Cute vestee! And pretty socks!
Thanks for reminding me of knitting during baseball. Next week is our agency’s annual “let’s leave work and go watch a ball game” day and I want to cast on a sock before then so I can have something to do.
Yay for a dance party, that sounds awesome. Dude- I LOVE the color you’re using for the tuxedo tank, that is going to be sexy.
i noticed you guys straggling at the end of the game! too funny.
vestee is beautiful! great, great color combo. it will look great on mj.
Vestee is great! MJ will look just darling in it this fall/winter. What yarns are you using on the Charades and the Tuxedo Tank??
I think that the end of the game could have been easy to miss if you weren’t paying attention, and the knitting can certainly be an attraction. Charades look great - and cute vestee.
ooooh, cannot wait to see the adorable mj model it. i saw the vestee pattern and wanted to do a version, the boys might actually wear a vest in the southland. so many projects, so little time. but you are right, home with babies can be hilarious, the beans are discovering the joy of the gymini and i can watch that for hours (hmmm, i t=really do watch it, for hours).
Thanks for the update - is there a lot of stretch lost with the sock yarn having tencel in it? I’m really tempted…..
OK, I’ll fess up to not knowing the game was over! Hey, I never pretended to be much of a sports girl….
That sweater is too cute, MJ is going to look so cute in it, come fall.
And as for shaking my thus-far-baby-free booty, I do shake it around here pretty ofter, but only when I’m 100% sure Veronique isn’t home….
Nice Vestee!! Attaching collars… so painful. I have to talk myself through finishing work like that!!
kaitlyn, hi…i have no idea how to email you directly, but i figured you would find this comment. first thank you for the compliments on the gable…i pretty much followed the pattern as written with a yarn that was on gauge. i did add increases at the waist (three paired) and just knit the length until it felt comfortable. it was worth the added time it took to try it on. i think the only other mod was 5 rows of rib at the hem and sleeves to prevent rolling.
thanks too for the words about weaning/leaving. i love mj’s name too, so beautiful for a beautiful little girl. smiles, amiee

life at home with a baby is never boring. they are so full of life! just yesterday i found out that the peanut is enamored with drinking glasses
i love showing her new things.
