Hot Spider Action!
2005 @ 11:03 am
Last night was the Spiders Holiday party! Hosted by Katie and Amanda, the night was a great success, complete with gift swap… which got a bit nasty, but not as nasty as it could have.
I spent the day in search of items for my gift package–fun! Then I spent a while looking for something festive that I fit into. Not fun. Here’s what I wound up with… I was ready before Mr. Sassy so I spent some time with my latest project–my first sock!
It’s the Crusoe sock from Knitty, modified slighty for a man:
So far I love this pattern! It’s a lot of fun. I cast of 64 stitches and am hoping that it will fit. These are Mr. Sassy’s Christmas present this year, I gave up on keeping that a secret pretty quickly. He would rather a sweater, but this is all I can muster at the moment. (Thanks Steph for loaning me your size 2 needles!)
On to the party… Katie and Amanda arranged for a fabulous gift swap. Each Spider opened a package in turn, but had the option of stealing another Spider’s gift! This being the case, going first was less than optimal. Poor Sarah had her gift stolen twice! No one could be blamed though… these gifts were great. Just look at Amanda’s face as she opened hers–stemless wineglasses and the Yarn Harlot’s latest book!
And look what I got:
Sarah’s taste is right on point–how often do we compliment each other’s Anthropologie sale purchases? No one in their right mind would turn down Jaques Torres hot chocolate and I am really excited about the Wrap Style book! I had never thumbed through it before and I really like most of the patterns. And yes, I photographed the wrapping paper; I love it! My family has always saved the good paper for use year after year and this stuff is no exception. I just love it when the tape comes off with such ease! It’s the little things in life I guess. I was happy to hear that Sarah’s family had the same habit. Hopefully she did not have to endure the teasing of cousins that we did
.
And just as I typed that last line, I caught the Sassy Cat redhanded with my presents:
“Yes, there is a good chance I am crumpling your paper”
It was also really nice to wake up to this on a Sunday morning!
Happy Holidays to my Spiders and all the other knitters out there

You looked fabulous on Sat.! Ohh socks, I am totally addicted now and have the crusoe on my long list of socks to knit - yours are looking great love the colors. I think we all made out like bandits in the gift dept.
[…] Last year, the Spiders had our first annual White Elephant gift swap. I made out great and have been looking forward to this years party. I really wanted to come up with something good–something that would get stolen. […]

What a gorgeous, snowy day! Never get those here in So Cal, although it has been a little bit crisp here lately.
Looks like the Spiders had a great time and you made out pretty well. Give ol’ Sassy Cat a pet for me. What a cutie pie!
