once you go black…
2006 @ 11:46 am
what’s that they say? Once you go MAC you never go back?
My last two computers have been SONY Vaios. Laptop and desktop, respectively. That’s eight years of loyalty to SONY and 11 years of loyalty to Windows (i guess it doesn’t count if you were using Windows 3.1 after 95 came out, does it!). I’ve thrown in the towel and ordered me a MAC. A 14″ I-book to be more specific. I can’t take the viruses, I can’t take the crashes, I can’t take the endless list of mystery processes. I can’t take that flashing “WARNING! Imminent failure!” everytime I turn the machine on and hold my breath while I press F1, only to arrive safely at my startup page as if nothing were wrong. Oh ‘puter, how you have vexed me.
I am really excited for my new machine! A whole new system to learn though–hope I can hack it!
Vaio will be retired for long term use in dad’s recording studio. He’s got more patience than I!

WELCOME TO THE MAC FAMILY, KAITLYN!!! Seriously, you will be sooo happy you made the swtich. My Ibook of about two years has been so very kind to me. Who wants to deal with viruses, and having to reboot your computer like every 20 minutes? That stuff is for the birds.
A better machine, a better knitblog, I say.
Feel better, BTW. See you in Friday, I hope.
yeah!!! going mac will be the best thing you ever did!
feel better! see you on saturday!
as others have said… welcome to the mac family. i adore my pbg4. just remember to keep the kitty away from it when drinks are nearby… one of them knocked over a glass of wine onto my old pb and fried the videocard. :\ (read: expensive fix, thank goodness for company expense accounts. i got a new one instead
)

Very cool. I’ve been thinking about getting another laptop but not sure which. I hope you have fun with your new toy!
