			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>At the beginning on January I decided to join my fellow knitterly and crafty types over at flickr for the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/1014308@N22/">Year in Pictures</a> project.  It&#8217;s been great!  I&#8217;ve actually manged to take a photo each day and I&#8217;m even happy with most of them.  It&#8217;s a fun, flexible group if you are looking to boost your skills through practice&#8230; and you can join at any time.</p>

Vaguely followed this pattern.  Used Malabrigo yarn on size 7 needles.  self-dyed.

The intended shot represented my day in that it was the exact opposite of how today was.  I am grateful to my super busy husband for taking the time to clear it, and the floor, before we got home tonight.  It's been days since the apartment has reached its full neatness potential.

Being alone all day doesn't agree with my 18 year old cat... I am sad to admit that there are days I have hardly any affection left to throw her way at the end of the day. I often closed my &quot;good eye&quot; when looking at my tree this year.  It was just ugly... little one kept divesting the tree of its ornaments, big one moved them around almost hourly.  The results was clumps of ornaments and large patches of bare tree.  We didn't have enough lights for a tree this size and we also have some sersiouly hideous ornaments from a drunk ornament making party.  

I have already taken steps towards a prettier tree next year--most of the party ornaments went in the recycle bin and will be replaced by a lovely 12 Days of Christmas set we were gifted from Land of Nod this year. During intermission they bring this guy out to demonstrate how marionettes work. It's just too cold in the studio for her to go barefoot.  The look on her face when she tried them on was priceless.  Behind the slippers is a photo of me from a wedding about a year ago. (YIP 8/365) - this is the pacifier graveyard under Cassie's crib.  A little embarrassing, but hey, it's hard to reach under there so we do a periodic sweep.  We obviously have enough to get by. It' s garland that we use to hang christmas cards up (hence the mini clothespins).  It didn't really come out as I had hoped, mostly because it's a rough spot to photograph.  A little higher than eye level and against the wall blocked with kid crap. They are pretty though and the camera is out taking pictures of our new restaurant so it'll have to do."><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2710/4260039137_e6f1d4ea34_s.jpg" width="75" height="75" alt="meh. it&#039;s a garland." /></a> <a class="tt-flickr tt-flickr-Square" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sassystitchess/4262550695/" rel="album-72157622988806805" id="photo-4262550695" title="Irish Pub Soup (YIP 10/52) - I'm calling it Irish Pub soup because I attempted to recreate the type of vegetable soup I enjoying in Ireland on a visit in 1997. It tasted a little different everywhere I went, but the consistency was pretty much the same.  I ran every veggies (inc onion) through the coarse grater of my food processor.  My version has a bit of an Asian twist since I included Thai rice noodles and fork mashed tofu.  I was intending to use pasta tri-color whole wheat alphabets, but we are out!

This is great practice for my first photography task: taking photos of the food at my husband's new restaurant.  Oh yea, this soup was DELICIOUS!

Recipe:
3T olive oil
1 onion, grated
1 heaping T minced garlic
10+ baby carrots, grated
1 large stalk celery, grated
1/2 yam (sweet potato) grated
5 or 6 stalks of kale, torn into 2&quot; pieces.
1 half cup firm tofu, fork mashed)
1 box veg stock (I used Kitchen Basics)  I think it's abt 4 c.
some vermicelli rice noodles (eyeball it to how much liquid you have)
white pepper, kosher salt , dry fines herbs (chives, parsley, chervil, marjoram, tarragon)

Using large grating disc on food process, grate one onion.  Saute in stock pot with garlic in 3 T olive oil. Next grate the carrot, celery and sweet potato.  Add veggies to the pot along with tofu and cook, covered on medium heat, for about 10 minutes.  Add stock, herbs, salt and pepper to taste (i used a generous pinch of salt and pepper and about 1/5 t of herbs).  Once heated through, simmer for about 15 minutes.  Add noodles and kale, cook for 5 more minutes.  Serve!  Serves 4.  You may need to add some water if the noodles drink up too much stock! <p>See what I mean?  The settings are virtually the same on these cameras&#8211;the <a href="http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/423714-REG/Tamron_AF016C700_17_50mm_f_2_8_XR_Di.html">lens</a> is making all the difference.  The colors are more true and the photo is much more crisp.  I am so excited!  I&#8217;ve barely scratched the surface of learning about this camera and already the view is different.  Welcome to the world of DEPTH! SPEED! CLARITY! (and best of all) CONTROL!</p>
