Dynamic percent bars…
2006 @ 11:34 am
I’ve been asked many time about the graphic bars I, and many other knitters, use to track project progress. They look like this:
This weekend, my bars disappeared! Since the bars require a shockwave file to operate, they go down when the file is unavailable. The file was housed on a server that was not my own that I no longer have access too. Even worse, Anna Knits, the blogging genius who originally dreamt up and shared the code and .swf file for this nifty tool is nowhere to be found! What is a girl to do? and what is so great about these percent bars as opposed to others offered free? Well, these percent bars are dynamic (flash). All you have to do is paste in a bit of code and you are free to manipulate color and exact percentage at any time! I personally prefer this to subbing different jpg files each time I want to update my progress.
The good news is that people with more talent for research than I found the Annaknits web page in an archive and posted it! That Andrea is one smart cookie. Her own blog archive holds a full description of the code as well as a link to the archival original internet page. Dudes, I didn’t even know the Internt had an archive. Knock me over with a feather.
Anyway, try these bad boys out…
who says visualization doesn’t work?

Alright, I was actually just opening the curtains in my bedroom when i spotted something interesting…
hiding there behind the hamper and a basket full of rejected maternity loans, a brown paper bag…
AHA! Angora and hand dyed merino! Pinkity goodness
Thanks to all the Spiders who came out and supported Mr. Sassy’s new venture last night–it really meant a lot to have you all there. I hope you enjoyed yourselves half as much as I did!
halfway there… if you count visualization

Alright, I’ve got a mental image of the missing angora yarn. I see it at the bottom of a shopping bag. Alongside it? My hand dyed yarn… the stuff I did myself. The stuff that is supposed to become a pinwheel baby blanket. This is what I have been planning on as my “labor knitting”. MUST FIND! I don’t remember the last time I saw it. I think it was when we finally started moving on getting our old crap out of the kid’s room. Oh Mr. Sassy… please tell me you’ve seen it. I hope I remember to ask him this morning–I haven’t seen that guy in about a week! He’s very very very busy with the workie. We are in a race to see who gives birth to their life-altering, life-improving project first. Mine is passive incubation, his is construction and opening of new business. I think he has the harder job!
Last night I finished the second sleeve of the Knitting for Boozehags Kaitlyn sweater… but now I need to go back and reknit the end of the other sleeve. It’s way too long and I’d rather be happy than finished. Get this–my deadline for that project was St. Patty’ Day–I’m gonna make it!
I also am back on track with the Shetland Triangle thanks to two rows of tinking at the Point last night. I just need to add the last chart of edging and it will be ready for blocking! I’ll have to check in with my sister on her planned guest bed usage next week.
My FO basket is out of hand lately so I am really glad to be finished these two pieces up.
Now… if I could just find that shopping bag…
