Vestee Revisited
2007 @ 5:17 pm
Please indulge me for a moment–I have wanted to capture the Vestee on MJ in action and finally got the chance last week. This was the day after the ginko tree dropped all its lovely yellow leaves.
As you can see, the sweater is a bit short in the front–guess i WILL do those short rows on Sarah’s Twisted Tree! And I promise you, my daughter smiles all day long, just never when I take out the camera.
Revised Vestee Pattern available here…
2007 @ 8:15 am
Thank you to Marjorie Brigham for permission to re-post her Vestee pattern! A kind commenter mentioned that Ms. Brigham had a revised version of her great pattern that included more detail. I’m posting the (PDF) file here. While I was able to use the pattern as written, I think I made certain assumptions–this revision should clear those spots up. Plus its got neat-o schematics!
I’ve got the whole body and the shawl collar knit–I’ve just got to seam and I’m done!

The Word version of the new pattern file can be found at Brooklyn General’s blog.
APB–Kidsilk Haze
2007 @ 9:35 am
I am down to my last puff of Kidsilk Haze for the vestee. ACK! Why did I think I could make it all the way through? I lost the ball band eons ago so my best guess is that I am using colorway 600.
I’ve contacted someone on Ravelry who has half a skein… cross your fingers for me por favor.
vestee report
2007 @ 8:54 am
why am i able to blog so much lately? I’ve struck a deal with the wobbler–she can stick food down her shirt after breakfast and I can blog. Sure, it’s a little extra clean up, but it’s worth it
I owe it to whoever is knitting the Vestee from Knitty to blog about my progress. “It’s a vest and tee shirt combined.” Is it? How so? Folks, it’s a raglan sweater.

Overall, it’s going well and I am happy with how it’s looking. There are a couple of snafus… whether it’s the pattern or me remains to be seen. One thing I do know–whatever is going on, keeping knitting IN PATTERN. I’m doing this as part of a knit-a-long at the shop and I’m a little worried some of the less experienced knitters will run into trouble with the wording of the pattern. Just keep purling when you see a purl column… it will work itself out.
I chose to knit the body and sleeves in the round and then join. The only trouble I ran into here was that the first couple of rounds after joining were pretty tight. I got through it though! I’m shaping the raglan and collar now–next I’ll knit up the shawl collar and attach. I’ll keep you posted
