Pattern

  1. Cast on 68 stitches
  2. Join and place odd color marker one stitch after beginning of round, taking care not to twist work
  3. Work even in stockinette for 6 inches
  4. Knit one round placing remaining 2 markers after 23rd and 45th stitches
  5. K2tog after every marker on every third row until 12 stitches remain

Finishing
Cut yarn and pull through stitches at top of hat, taking care to weave in the same direction as knitting. Tuck end into top of hat.
Make tassel using all colors and attach to top of hat. Allow bottom edge to roll.
